The workshop will begin with a classroom session indoors, covering features used in species ID and a guided opportunity to examine specimens of species included on the NPMS Calcareous grassland indicator species list. Following lunch, the group will head out to use their new ID skills on the beautiful Wolstonbury Hill site, looking at indicator species and also some of the key species that make up the beautiful chalk grassland in the area. By the end of the workshop, you should be confident in the features you need to look at to identify a grass, as well as a sound knowledge of some of the most common grasses you will encounter.
