Throughout 2025 the National Plant Monitoring Scheme celebrated its 10th anniversary, an exciting and significant milestone for the scheme signalling that the hard work of NPMS volunteers and supporters is truly paying off.

This year saw another round of detailed plant monitoring and survey work, resulting in over 240 1 km squares being visited (most twice), over 1,000 small plots with data and almost 17,000 plant records.

The accumulation of hundreds of National Plant Monitoring Scheme plots across the UK, Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands is an incredible resource for climate change researchers, and a new paper out today in the Journal of Applied Ecology attempts to quantify this for the first time.
